Vericott was set up in 1998 by 2 European Textile Technologists with the objective of creating short, balanced supply chains with more respect for the environment and within which the profits could be shared more equally from farmer to consumer.

Our vision is that the making and wearing of textiles is indeed a pleasant and beautiful global occupation, not at all at odds with a socially fair or environmentally sustainable world, and they set out to create trade in textiles according to these principles.

Vericott Directors started in India at Agrocel where they managed the creation of the Agrocel Cotton project returning to the UK in the Autumn of 1999. They returned to Europe with a deep knowledge of textile production in India.

Vericott set up its own brand Gossypium in 2000 initially as a show brand for Agrocel cotton fibre. Since that time it has established itself as one of the UK’s leading ethical brands.

Vericott stays ahead of consumer and manufacturing trends in ethical textiles and has many contacts in both Europe and abroad.

Agrocel
  

To meet the demand for a reliable Organic and Fairtrade cotton fibre, Agrocel Industries Limited, in conjunction with Vericott Ltd and Traidcraft Exchange, have defined and branded a cotton fibre. Agrocel® Pure & Fair Indian Organic Cotton.

Agrocel, from its rural service centres across India, co-ordinates organic fibre cultivation with a selected group of local farmers. A team of agronomists is based at each Agrocel service centre, and monitors growing to International Standards.

Gossypium is today a well know ethical brand .
